Project X Pan

Yes, you are reading the title of this post right, I am doing a project X pan. For those of you who don't know what project pan is there are many rules but I'll just give you a general idea. The goal is to use up a certain number of products before you buy anything new. Some people also go on a low buy during this period because for some it can last several months. I don't know how those people do it. Well I've decided to do this since I have a lot of makeup and need to take a break for a little bit from buying it. Starting on October 1st I won't be buying any makeup or skincare products only 100% necessary (i.e. I run out of toner or cleanser).

Tarte LipSurgence Collection Swatches, Photos & Review

I've gotten quite a few requests to do a post on my Tarte LipSurgence collection. I have 7 of them and gave a few to my mother. These sell for $24 each and you get .1 oz of product. They come in three different types including lip tints, matte lip tints, and lip lusters. I counted 23 colors on Sephora's website. They always are coming out with limited edition shades though in holiday boxes or on places like QVC. There is a enough variety that I think there is a color to fit everyone's preferences.

September Favorites

I tried to pick favorites from a variety of groups of things. I tend to use a lot of the same makeup during the week so that's why I don't always have as many monthly makeup favorites. Here is what I have been loving for the past month during September. I hope you all enjoy.

September Favorites

Nail of the Day-Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather

Today's NOTD is Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather. I picked this up 2 years ago at the Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale. I believe that Narcisco Rodriguez designed this color with Deborah for his Fall runway shows in 2011. It's not an extremely unique color but yet somehow it is my favorite dark granite grey creme color. I think that this color just looks so classy and modern on the nails.

What's In My Sephora Skincare iQ Bag

I mentioned in one of my recent blog posts that Sephora was having a Skincare iQ event this weekend and was giving out free giftbags with no purchase necessary. I wanted to let you all know what I got in my bag and a little bit about the event in case maybe you still want to try and go tomorrow. Unfortunately the machine was not working so we couldn't use that but they did speak with me about my skin and made some recommendations for me. I didn't end up purchasing anything since I already have a ton of skincare to go through but I am excited about the bag.

Wishlist: Nars, NYX, OPI

This is my Friday wishlist post. I've started to try and keep a list of things that are on my wishlist to make it easier for me to remember what I'm lusting after each Friday. If you all have any products that I should check out please let me know as well. I'm always open to hearing your suggestions.

1. Nars Blush in Luster, $28 USD. I've been hearing a lot about this blush lately and love Nars blushes. This is described as a sheer golden apricot with some gold sheen. People say that this is really pretty for Fall so I would like to give this a try. If you have this and are fair skinned let me know what you think of it.

September Empties

I swear that every month my empties grows bigger and bigger. I think subconsciously knowing that I do this post each month I try even harder to finish things up if I know only a little bit is left. This month was a little crazy I guess. I don't even know how I finished this all but I did. Since I've also been trying to use up my samples/minis I think that has been why I finished so much stuff. I also have burning more candles since Fall is here. Since I have so many products I may not talk about everything but I'll let you know some of the things I liked or didn't like so much. Hope you enjoy this month's empties.

Move Over BB Creams. CC Creams are Coming!

Last season's must have product were BB creams. BB creams are a tinted moisturizer with primer, SPF, and anti-aging benefits with light coverage. Well, CC creams are the new BB cream. I've been hearing more and more about these and think that they will probably become just as popular as BB creams at some point soon. So what are CC creams? Read on in this post to find out more about this new beauty product.

What's in My September Glossybox

I received my September Glossybox kind of late this month. I'm not really sure why they send it out towards the end of the month. It makes me feel like I'm getting it almost in October instead of September. I am glad though that they don't get sent the same time as Birchbox. It's nice to have them spread out. I paid around $22 for this box. I was excited to get this box because people were saying there were all either full-size or deluxe-size samples.

What's Your Skin iQ? Find out at Sephora 9/28-9/30

I recently signed up through Allure magazine to be an allure beauty enthusiast. I've received a few emails from them since signing up but today I was super excited as I received an email about a special event that Sephora is having this weekend at select Sephora locations. The event is this weekend only from 12-6 p.m. I suggest making an appointment if you plan on going so that you can ensure a space. Click her to find out if there is a location near you hosting the event.

Birchbox Sample Stop Event in NYC

A few weeks ago was Fashion week here in NYC. Fashion week is huge here in NY and Birchbox being the smart company that they are decided to host something called "Sample Stop" during the week. They invited people who were attending the fashion shows, bloggers, and other industry people to visit their "Sample Stop" to build a Birchbox. Those who attended were able to pick 4-5 samples and put them in their Birchbox. I saw pictures of Katherine McPhee there and I think some other celebrities may have attended. Birchbox was nice enough to invite their subscribers to the event as well. I attended it with a friend of mine and had such a good time. This post is very picture heavy but I hope you all enjoy the photos. I think they really show you what the event was really like.

Lorac Pro Palette: Swatches, Photos & Review

Lorac recently came out with their Pro Palette which has gotten a ton of hype recently. This came out around the same time as the Unzipped palette. I first heard a lot about the Unzipped which I still don't have but once I heard about this palette I knew I had to add it to my wishlist. This palette comes with 16 eyeshadows, 8 of which are matte and 8 are shimmer. The 8 matte shades are: white, cream, taupe, light pink, mauve, sable, espresso, and black. This is a great mix of mattes that you could use as a highlight, all over the lid, crease color, inner corner, etc. For the 8 shimmer shades they are: nude, champagne, gold, light bronze, pewter, garnet, deep purple, and slate. These are amazing shimmery metallic colors that will work great with the mattes and none of the shimmer contain glitter. The problem with a lot of eyeshadow palettes is that they are all metallic or shimmery shades and no mattes or not enough mattes. This is a perfect mix of both as I personally don't like wearing all shimmer on my eyes.

Nail of the Day: NYC Color Bowery Black

Today's NOTD is NYC Color in Bowery Black.I think that NYC makes some great nail polish and for great prices. I have a few of their colors. What I love most about this color is that its not a pure black. It is almost a really dark grey/black color with some slight shimmer in it. In some lights it does look black but in other lights you can really see the pretty shimmer. I love adding a matte topcoat to this color sometimes. I think it adds such a chic look in matte. These pictures were taken outside in NYC since the lighting in my apartment is terrible. I hope you all the authentic NYC in these pictures.

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Fragrance Review

The latest release from British brand Jo Malone is called Blackberry and Bay. This is my first review of a fragrance and find fragrance reviews to be very difficult but I really liked this scent and wanted to share with you all some of my thoughts on it.  Prior to purchasing this the only other one I have ever tried from them was Nectarine Blossom & Honey. That's my all time favorite summer scent so I had to try this for fall after all of the hype that this fragrance has been getting. Jo Malone describes the fragrance as, "Inspired by childhood memories of blackberry picking. A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods. A scent of innocence."

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Beauty Buys

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I wanted to do this post because to let you all know how you can give back to help fight breast cancer. For 2012, there are several companies that are donating a portion of proceeds from products sold to different Breast Cancer charities. For beauty lovers this is a win-win situation. You not only get to buy some great products but you also get to give back, which I think is very important to do.Please also be aware that some of these items will not be available until October so if you can't find it yet just check back in October and it should be available then. I will try and update this post as I find new products being sold.

Favorite YouTubers of September

These are my favorite YouTubers for the month of September. Each month I select three people to highlight whose videos I enjoy watching. These are the three people this month that I think you should check out.  If you have any favorite people that you watch please send me their channel information. I'm always looking to discover new people to watch.

lisettesbeaute
First up this month is Emily from lisettesbeaute. She has a great personality and loves makeup. She does tutorials, hauls, collection videos, face of the days, and she sometimes even vlogs which I really enjoy watching. She is a beautiful girl who isn't afraid to try new things when it comes to beauty. Her videos are so enjoyable to watch so you should all check her out. She also has a blog that you should check out as well. Here is her most recent video:

Nail of the Day: China Glaze Ingrid

Today's NOTD is China Glaze Ingrid. I've been trying to mix up my NOTD posts and rotate between different brands.  I originally heard Ingrid  or otherwise known as missglamorazzi from YouTube talk about this colors when I first started watching YouTube videos. She obviously loves this color because it's her name but I love it because its such a unique and pretty color. I've had this in my collection for over a year now and reach for it a lot. It's a taupe brown color with some subtle gold shimmer in it. I also see a hint of green in it as well but very slight. It definitely leans more brown.

Holy Grail Nail Product: How I Stopped My Nail Polish from Peeling and Chipping

This is a post that I have been wanting to do for the past week or two. Prior to finding this product, I had a huge problem with any polish that I would put on my nails peeling off the day after I would paint my nails. They wouldn't just chip, they would peel. I tried every brand of polish and every top and base coat and it didn't make a difference. People would say to make sure my nails were clean, make sure that I wasn't applying thick coats, etc. I tried those things and nothing would work. I became extremely frustrated and even so concerned that I went out and bought Gel manicure kits since I thought that I could never paint my nails again without it peeling after a day.

Makeup Collection and Storage with Photos & Video

I asked my readers what type of post they would be interested in reading. One of my readers suggested I do a makeup collection and storage post. I love watching these on YouTube so I have attempted to do this myself. I have taken photos of my collection and also made a short (but shaky) video on my iPhone of my collection. If you are interested in a more in depth video focusing on different parts of my collection please just let me know as I would be more than happy to do that. I know that I have a large collection and as the usual disclaimer that everyone sees on YouTube I am not at all bragging when I show you what I have. I have been collecting these products over the past several years and find that collecting makeup is a hobby for me and what interests me.

What Posts Would You Like to See?

I wanted to do a quick post to ask you all what type's of posts you are interested in reading about? Do you like skincare review, drugstore products, nail posts, high end, etc? This is your chance to give me your feedback on what types of posts you would find most interesting. I'm new to the whole blogging community and am trying my best to not only post what interests me but also post what you all want to read. I hope that you all have been enjoying my blog over the past few months. Words cannot express how grateful I am for all of your support. I have some fun ideas for posts coming up but still look forward to hearing your thoughts. Hope everything is having a wonderful Tuesday and you all have a fabulous rest of your week!

This or That? Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads vs. St. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads

This is going to kick off a new series that I am going to call "This or That". I know that there are a lot of drugstore alternatives to high end products. I want to showcase those options for you. Some of you may still prefer the high end and if you can afford it sometimes the high end is worth the money. For those of you who can't afford the high end products though, I plan on showing you some great alternatives that you can find at the drugstore. This post is going to focus on skincare and I will be comparing the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel pads (high-end) vs. the St. Ives Scrub-Free Exfoliating Pads (drugstore).

Nail of the Day-Essie Bahama Mama

Today's NOTD is Essie Bahama Mama. I originally heard a YouTuber talking about this polish and new I had to have it. I picked it up the same day from Harmon's and have fallen in love with the color. For someone who has as many polishes as I do it's pretty hard to find a color that is unique to my collection. This color is unique. The color is a dark red/burgundy shade that I think is beautiful for Fall. I have already gotten so many compliments on the color.

NYX Blush in Angel: Swatches, Photos, & Review

This review is on the NYX powder blush in Angel. For some reason it seems like there is a lot of variability in what color people get. I've heard that from a few people and when I was looking at swatches online it seemed like they looked different on many blogs. For the price, these are excellent blushes. I usually get mine from either Harmon's which is located in Bed, Bath, and Beyond or online at Cherry Culture. You get .18 oz/5.2 grams of product and they retail for around $6. I try to get them when Cherry Culture is having a sale. The color is a peachy/pink color with some sheen but the sheen doesn't show up as much on the cheeks. I think this blush would work well for fair to medium skin tones. Any darker and it would be too light of a blush.

Worth the Hype? Clarins Cleansing Milk, Review & Photos

I've decided to start a new series on cult products and talk about if they are worth the hype or not. I know I always hear talk on certain products on YouTube, Beauty Blogs, Sephora, etc. of people raving about products but I'm not always sure what if they are "Worth the Hype." My first post in this series will be on the Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs for Normal or Dry Skin. They also have one for Combination to Oily skin but I thought this one was better suited for me. I picked this up at the Nordstorm Anniversary sale for Fall/Winter. I have normal/combination skin that gets dehydrated when the weather gets colder. I thought that this would be a good cleanser to help hydrate my skin.

What's in My September Birchbox

So this month's Birchbox theme was around fashion. This past week was NYC fashion week so this is perfect timing for a fashion theme. I do find that the themes don't have much to do with what you get in your box but its still a cute idea. So here is what the message on the card says, "September marks the starting line for the season's fashion bonanza. We'll leave the 900+ page fall fashion issues to Vogue, but that doesn't mean we don't have plenty of inspiration to share. We've put together a mini-mag filled with ten of our favorite fall beauty trends. Flip through to get inspired!"

Nail of the Day-Essie Lady Like

Today's NOTD is Essie Lady Like. This is a pretty color for Fall. It is nude/mauve color with lavender undertones. It also has kind of a dusty look to the color. It looks almost nude on the nails which I really like. I think its a nice change from darker colors for Fall. I also sometimes see some grey undertones in this color as well. Grey colors are always hugely popular in Fall. This is a pretty color for the early Fall months.

Top 10 Favorite Fall Lip Glosses-Swatches & Photos

I'm so excited for Fall so I want to start sharing with you all some of my favorite Fall/Winter makeup products. For me Fall and Winter makeup is pretty much the same and the same goes for Spring and Summer. I may tweak it slightly but the idea of what I pick is similar. So these are my top 10 favorite glosses for Fall. This may change for Winter if I get some new glosses or fall in love with something else. I have a mix of high end and drugstore. I tend to like rich berry colors, plums, and rose colors. That's just personally what I lean towards. I don't like anything too dark though as I am very fair skinned and don't think I can pull off very dark. So here are my favorites for Fall.

Fall Beauty Swap with Gloss & Gab

So Garbriella from Gloss & Gab contacted me sometime around July to do a beauty swap. Since I'm a new blogger this was my first request to do a swap so I didn't really know what to expect. We decided that we would do a Fall theme and we set the amount of money that we would each spend. We also agreed to send out our packages around Labor Day just in time for Fall. I had such a fun time shopping for her products and really hope that she enjoys them. So here is what Gabriella sent me:

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Swatches, Photos & Review

I know I'm a bit late on doing this post but I didn't start blogging until the beginning of July and so I'm just now getting to talk about some of the more popular drugstore items as of late. This post will be on probably one of the most popular drugstore items from this Summer which are the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I have purchased six of them but ended up returning one because it was too dark. There has been a lot of talk about these being similiar to Tarte Lip Surgence and/or Clinique Chubby Sticks. In my mind they are all three different products. I'll probably doing another post comparing the three but for now lets just say that they aren't really alike in terms of staying power and pigmentation and of course price.

Nail of the Day-OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest

Today's NOTD is OPI's Every Month is Oktoberfest. This polish is new and recently came out with the Germany collection. This is one of the colors that everyone has had their eyes on. Unfortunately I don't think my pictures do this color enough justice. The color is very dark purple/black with red undertones and has shimmer in it in sunlight. You can kind of see the shimmer peaking through on my pinky. I like colors that look different in different lights. This color is really nice for Fall/Winter and I'm glad that I picked it up.

Burberry Eyeshadow Collection +Swatches

Since Burberry eyeshadows have been so popular over the past year or so I thought I would do a post on my collection with some swatches. I have 5 shadows. 2 I purchased myself and the other 3 were given to me by a sales rep at Nordstrom's. It was so random that she even gave them to me but I was extremely grateful. Those 3 are displays so they don't come in the packaging but I still can enjoy them. I know a lot of people who don't have these shadows wonder if they are really worth the hype or not. I hope that this posts help you decide whether or not you need.  Burberry shadow in your collection or help you decide to maybe add more. They have four new colors in their Autumn/Winter collection in Gold Trench, Dark Sable, Mulberry, and Porcelain White. The five shades that I have are Rosewood, Pale Barley, Antique Rose, Midnight Brown, and Midnight Plum.

Newly Released MAC Pro Palettes

I was recently looking at photos on Instagram when I came across someones MAC palette that looked different. I soon found out that MAC recently came out with all new pro palettes. The concept is basically more like a Z palette in that you can see your eyeshadows and can just stick them in alone since the palette is magnetic. You also have the option of putting in a holder that makes it more like the older palettes where the shadows are more spread out. I'm going to show you some of the pictures that I have of my old palettes, the new one, and some comparison of a Z palette and my 10 shadow Inglot palette. The new palettes cost $18 for the outer part and then if you want the inner part it is $9 so in total the whole palette could either cost you  $18 or $27. That's quite a bit more than the palettes used to cost I believe. They also have this for blush as well. So here are my thoughts on the new palettes:

Nail of the Day: Sinful Colors Leap Flog

So as promised I am going to really try to wear my colors this Fall/Winter. The newest polish that I have put on is by Sinful Colors and its called Leap Flog. I'm not sure if this is limited edition but its a great Fall color and the polishes only cost around $1.99. The color is a blue/green/grey color and is very dusty. I really like this color a lot for Fall. I can't pull off some greens/blues but I think that I can make this work. I applied two coats of this polish and it was fairly opaque and applied well.

Fall/Winter Nail Polish Collection +Swatches

Since Fall will be here soon I decided to whip out my fall/winter nail polishes. I have a very large collection of nail polish. I think I counted 40 colors that I would wear in the Fall/Winter. That's a lot. I could wear each polish only once if I switched my polish twice a week. So being that's what I counted I'm going to make that my goal. Hopefully you will be seeing NOTD posts at once a week so that I can try and rotate my polishes. I have way more polish during this season as I prefer vampy dark colors. I have a wide variety of polishes from Julep to China Glaze to OPI to Essie to Sinful. So hopefully you can find something that catches your eye in this post. I also tried my best to get you decent photos of the colors. Unfortunately the weather here in NYC has been terrible and I also live in a dark apartment. Plus a lot of the colors are very similar so its hard to tell a difference in some of the darker colors. I hope this gets you all in the mood for Fall.

How Much Does My Face Cost?

There has been a tag going around having you look at the makeup that you use on a daily basis and then you calculate how much your face costs. I'm pretty sure mine is going to be crazy because I tend to use a lot of products on a daily basis. I decided to also total the brushes that I use daily. Those are really expensive but I'll include them for this post.

Beauty Recycling Programs

I've decided to share with you what I know about skincare or makeup recycling programs at a few stores that I am aware of. I think that this is a great idea and wish that more stores would offer this. I certainly shop more at these stores because they offer this. Also important to be aware of is a lot of stores offer specials on Earth Day. For example, Sephora was running a special this year if you brought back any empty container (didn't have to be from Sephora) they gave you a free Origins moisturizer that was 1.7 oz. I believe Origins was running the same special in their stores as well. I really hope that more stores start offering these types of programs as most consumers appreciate it and it helps the environment.

Nail of the Day: Rimmel English Rose

Today's NOTD is Rimmels Lasting Finish Pro in English Rose. I picked this up at the drugstore recently since I wanted a new fall color nail polish. This is a rose color with brown undertones.  It's just a really pretty fall color. I only had to do 2 coats of this color as it is pretty opaque.

Project Use It Up- Samples/Minis Edition

I've decided today to go through all of my samples/minis and organize them. After doing that I realized that I just have a ton of samples that I need to use it. My goal is to use up as many of these samples before the end of 2012. I wish update you at the end of the year with how I did. Of course the samples pile is always growing since I am always getting freebies with orders, at events, beauty boxes, etc. I will also be including products that I use up in my empties post each month. My makeup samples are not as bad as my skincare ones. Certain areas of skincare I could not have to buy anything new for a very long time, like moisturizer. So these are my samples that I'm trying to use up in 2012:
