Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Swatches, Photos & Review

I know I'm a bit late on doing this post but I didn't start blogging until the beginning of July and so I'm just now getting to talk about some of the more popular drugstore items as of late. This post will be on probably one of the most popular drugstore items from this Summer which are the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I have purchased six of them but ended up returning one because it was too dark. There has been a lot of talk about these being similiar to Tarte Lip Surgence and/or Clinique Chubby Sticks. In my mind they are all three different products. I'll probably doing another post comparing the three but for now lets just say that they aren't really alike in terms of staying power and pigmentation and of course price.

Left to Right: Cherish, Charm, Darling, Smitten, Honey

The balm stains are a chubby stick that twists up so you don't have to sharpen them which is a plus. They are a cross between a moisturizing lip balm and a glossy lipstick. They have a nice minty smell but they don't really make your lips tingle at all like Buxom products. They also don't dry out my lips which is a huge plus for a stain.

I believe there are somewhere around 12 shades. There is a nice variety of reds, pinks, peaches, and darker shades as well. In terms of staying power these really do stain your lips pretty well. I do find that after eating and/or drinking that the color can bleed out a bit so I do need to reapply every so often but the base color is always still there. The darker colors also tend to stain more than the lighter ones.

Left to Right: Charm, Smitten, Darling, Honey, and Cherish

Below are some swatches of Charm and Honey. Charm is probably my least favorite out of all of them since it is not very pigmented and doesn't look great on chapped lips. Charm is a pale peach color and is probably the lightest shade in the collection. Honey is a your lips but better shade. So I think this shade could work well for anyone. I like this especially for Fall but its probably not my favorite of all of them. I hope you can see the nice gloss in the swatches. This gloss wears down on your lips pretty quick but you are still left with the stain.

The next three colors that I have are probably my favorite since I lean more toward pink colors for my lips. Cherish is my favorite out of all of the ones I have. It is a light cool pink color with a would say some blue in it which I like. Next is Darling which is a lilac/pink color. I really like the hint of purple in this color and think that it works great. Finally is Smitten which is the darkest one I have and the one that stains the most. Smitten is a bright raspberry pink color which is nice for a bold lip but yet still very wearable.

I highly recommend giving this product a try if you haven't picked them up yet. They are just really beautiful and so easy to use. Most drugstores are carrying them now. They retail around $10.49 for .095 oz. so they are a little on the pricier side for drugstore but you can sometimes find a deal at Rite Aid for 40% off or buy 1 get one free deals at CVS or other drugstore. Also they are probably less expensive outside of NYC. Have you tried these yet? What are some of your favorite colors?

  4. Great pics and swatches! These really do sound lovely. I've been dying to try them (as I love so many other Revlon products and the concept of these sounds intriguing), but I'm torn because I have sooo many other lip products already. Not a bad problem to have, I guess ;)
