Since last month I didn't have that many empties this month I went through things like crazy. I actually also went through a lot of makeup this month, partially because I needed to toss a lot of mascaras that had dried up. A lot of Bath & Body Works as usual and a ton of skincare. I'm really trying to use up what I have before I go out and buy new stuff. I've been doing a pretty good job of that so far and that's why you haven't heard about any new makeup purchases from me recently. I just have so much stuff that I really need to focus on using it all up.

I finished up 4 large candles. Peach Bellini and Peppermint Mocha were my favorites and I would repurchase them. I love all things Vanilla Bean Noel during the winter and would repurchase anything in that scent again. I used the Country Chic body butter for my feet at night. It was just ok and I don't really love the scent.

Things I would repurchase from this photo for sure are the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm and the Dior apricot cuticle cream. Everything else was good but I'm not sure about repurchasing at the moment. I am considering getting the Caudalie Grape Water again since it isn't expensive. Their Beauty Elixir is great and has a very relaxing scent but I stopped using it during the winter because it does contain alcohol and I was afraid it might dry out my skin. I may go back to it in the Spring/Summer though. The Shiesedo White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion is good but doesn't do much for brightening my skin. It is a good moisturizer though. I enjoyed the Kiehls Rosa Artica Lightweight cream but don't know if I would repurchase. The St. Ives exfoliating pads are great for the price. I didn't really like the 100% Pure Caffeine Eye Cream. I felt like the product went bad really quickly and the smell was super strong. I just didn't enjoy it. The Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp is great to take off makeup. I really like it but I've been trying out a new product. I would repurchase this though. I am still using the Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester 15. It is super expensive but I do think its a good product. I switched from Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover to the Clinique Take the Day Off. The Clinique is cheaper and while it may not be as good its good enough. I also felt that the Lancome might have been drying out my eyelids a bit. The Yes to Blueberries wipes are a miss for me. They are not wet, dry out quickly and don't remove makeup. I would pass on these.

I love my Shick Intuition razors and will never stop buying them. The Aussie 3 Minute Miracle is amazing and I will repurchase it. The Toms deodorant is ok but goes on a bit wet. I don't plan to repurchase this. The Fekkai Brillant Glossing cream was ok but I will not buy a full size. The Redken All Soft conditioner is a great product and I would repurchase this. It left my hair very soft. The Awapuhi Styling Treatment Oil is a little bit heavy on my hair. I think that there are better oils out there. L'Occitane makes amazing hand creams but I don't like this lavender one. The Oral-B satin floss is my favorite type of floss. This glides the easiest.

Makeup

I finished up the Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb rollerball perfume. This is more of a nightime scent for me. I usually do get compliments on it but its too strong to wear to work. I finished 5 mascaras. I like the Jordana Best Lash Extreme, Maybelline Great Lash in Clear (for my brows), and Clinique Bottom Lash. I would repurchase all of these. The rest I would skip. I didn't like the Loreal Voluminous in Waterproof. I finished a mini Nars Laguna and a mini Benefit Watts Up. I would repurchase both of these and have the full sized Benefit Watts Up. These mini products lasted me months of daily use. You would be surprised how long they take to use up. I really enjoyed the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light/Medium and would repurchase it. The Maybelline Define a Brow was a miss for me and it could have been the color. I got Dark Blonde but next time I would try a darker color. I found the tip broke easily though. I used up my Revlon lip butter in Berry Smoothie which I would repurchase. I also kind of gave up on my mini glosses. I hate mini glosses and find that the color is so hard to get out after a while.

So that is it for my empties this month. I'm happy to go through so much makeup. My goal is to finish up the same amount of products in February and try and not purchase a ton of new stuff. If you make empties videos or do blog posts on this I would love to see your empties. If not just let me know what you used up.
It's been forever since I have done a NOTD post. Why not come back big with Chanel? This has been a very talked about polish for Fall/Winter so I decided to pick it up. While it is pretty I just don't know if I get the hype just yet. I may need to wear it again to see but I'm not sure that this would make any favorites list just yet. This polish is $26 and you get .40 fl oz. So not cheap by any means but Chanel does make some very unique colors so sometimes its worth it.

The color is a deep dark red with some very fine shimmer in it. I personally only really see the shimmer in the sunlight, otherwise it kind of gets lost. This is one of those dark reds that leans almost black but you can still tell its a burgundy/red/wine color. I found that this polish lasted quite a while on my nails considering everyone always complains how much Chanel polishes chip. It was fairly easy to polish my nails with as well. Temptalia has some great swatches of the color where you can really see the shimmer. I just didn't see it on my nails.

Questions:

1. What motivated you to start your own blog?
I decided to start my blog after posting some pictures on Instagram and getting some great feedback and a ton of followers. That gave me the confidence to start the blog. Who knows, maybe YouTube at some point too but right now the blog is my focus.

2. Do you use any social networking sites to promote your blog? If so, what are they?

I use a ton of social networking sites to let people know about what I am posting. Anything from Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, StumbleUpon, Facebook, etc. I'm always finding new ones too.

3. On average, how many page views does your blog get per day?

I probably get around 800 page views a day but that really depends on how often I post and how many posts I do.

4. What types of blogs do you write about? For example, how-to's, reviews, etc.

I enjoy writing about reviews of new products, posts on my collection, and great beauty deals. Really anything beauty related. I'm not a makeup artist so I don't do tutorials or anything but have great YouTubers to recommend if anyone is into that.

5. Do you have any bad habits? If so, what are they?

My worst habit is probably picking at my lips. I have no idea where it came from but unfortunately it means I'll never have completely unchapped lips. I guess there are worse bad habits to have though. Also procrastination, that is something I would love to work on.

6. Whats your favorite movie of all time?

My favorite movie would be a three way tie between Dirty Dancing, Grease, and Clueless.

7. If you could meet any celeb, who would it be and why?

It would 100% be Kim Kardashian. I love her style in general and would love to pick her brain on beauty questions and what products she uses. I'm so excited and happy for her with her pregnancy.

8. Where do you see your blog in 3 years?

I see my blog growing to have an amazing group of men and women who read my posts and also continuing to network with other bloggers who enjoy beauty as much as I do.

9. What gained your blog the most attention? For example, a blog, a giveaway, contest, etc.

I gained a lot of attention when I posted about the Sephora Friends & Family Sale, which technically didn't happen but I thought it was going to after seeing Temptalia post about it. If I knew it wasn't going to happen I wouldn't have done the post but I figured it was safe to if Temptalia posted about it.

10. What do you think of this award and future contest?

I think it's great to be able to recognize bloggers who work hard at what they are doing and who put a lot of thought and effort into sharing great information with their followers. I also think it's nice to be able to share more personal things with our readers to help them better get to know us.

January's Birchbox theme is new year, new you. The box is focused on making 2013 the best year ever. Being that this is a new year I was really excited to see what I was going to get in my box. Birchbox is currently the only beauty box subscription service that I still receive so I am always super excited when I get my box. This is what I got in my January Birchbox.

Here is the card with everything that I got in my box. I was happy to not receive any food but not so happy to get another perfume. I feel like all of these boxes always give the same types of products, hair oil, perfume, shampoos, and stuff like that. I guess companies tend to give the same types of samples.

In the above little box I got a perfume sample of Viva La Juicy and theBalm eyelid primer. I am soooo sick of getting perfume samples. I especially am not happy that I got an old perfume. While it is good and I do like it, I would prefer to try something new. The eyelid primer is a nice thing to try out but I have so many primers and since a little bit goes a long way I'm not sure when I will get to try this out. A full size of the perfume sells for $25-$90 depending on the size. The primer sells for $18 which is a decent price for high end eye primers.

Oh another shampoo! Can't you tell how excited I am? I am happy that this is for color treated hair but I don't travel much and don't really need any shampoo. Birchbox says, "This gentle shampoo containing fortifying omega acids and healing sea buckthorn berry oil to keep hair color bright and shiny." A full size sells for $22. The ingredients do sound interesting so I'll try this out at some point and see if its really that good.

The beauty extra is the Juice Beauty Daily Essentials to Go that includes a cleansing milk, antioxidant serum and nutrient moisturizer. A full size is $29. I'll hold onto these for travel but I've been trying really hard to stick to using the same skincare products for at least a few months before switching things up. Juice Beauty is supposed to have nice skincare products.

The last thing that I got in my box is from Embryolisse in Lait-Creme Concentre. I am excited to give this a try because this is a cult beauty favorite over in the UK. Birchbox says, "A favorite of models and makeup artists, this cult French moisturizer heals dryness and leaves skin primed for foundation." A full size is just $16. This is an amazing price for a moisturizer.

The last thing in the box was this poster. If you are new to my blog then you should know that I hate getting these papers. I would prefer they would save money on printing and design and put it toward another item in the box. But I guess enough people like it that they keep doing it so it will just go into recycling for me. Cute idea but again a waste in my mind.

So that is my January box. Not such a great start to the new year but I'm going to stick with them since they do have such a good points program. I'm excited to try the eye primer and the Embryolisse cream. The rest I'm not overly excited about but will put it all to good use. If you get Birchbox I would love to hear what you got in your box? If you are over in the UK are you planning on getting Birchbox over there?
First there were the Revlon Lip Butter, then Loreal Color Riche, now Maybelline Color Whisper. How could Maybelline stay out the game? Well I'm glad they joined in because they are probably my favorite drugstore brand so I always have high hopes for their products. I will let you know my thoughts on them and how they compare to Loreal and Revlon.

The packaging I love! They are the slimmest and sleekest lipstick that I own which I can highly appreciate. I hate unnecessary packing and we all know when we have a small clutch with limited space how this comes in handy. The lids correspond to the color in the tube (for some but not all). The cap is easy to take off and put back on and unlike the Loreal ones you don't have to lock it into any groove.

The formula of these is a gel-silicone base. This means that the color goes on very smooth and glides on super easy. Also the colors don't go on patchy on the lips which I find can sometimes happen with the Revlon lip butters. The lighter colors are buildable but the very dark colors don't need hardly any building up and go on super pigmented. These are the most lightweight on the lips in my opinion. The lip butters from Revlon feel the heaviest on the lips.

The darker the color the longer that they last. The interesting thing that I also found with the darker colors was that they were also slightly staining my lips. I can highly appreciate that. I don't get that from Revlon or Loreal. These are not meant to be long lasting though so if you get a few hours from these that would be expected. If you want something really long lasting this is not the product.

I prefer these to the Revlon lip butters since they don't have any shimmer in them, the packaging is more sleek, and they feel more lightweight on my lips. I will still continue to purchase some of the lip butters I just think I like these more. The Loreal I only have one of so its hard to say but I can appreciate that they are lightweight on my lips and do not dry them out.

Speaking of dryness I didn't think that these really dried out my lips. After a few hours I did feel like I needed to reapply or put on lip balm but I think that is normal. Revlon and Loreal I don't really find drying either. The lip butters may be a teeny bit glossier than these but they are very similar. There are 20 shades to choose from so the color selection is very large. Everyone should be able to find a color that they enjoy.

Left to Right: A Plum Prospect, Oh La Lilac, Berry Ready, Coral Ambition,Faint for Fuchsia

A Plum Prospect- This is probably one of the darker colors in the line and it is a natural berry toned lip. I just love my pinky/purple colors. I couldn't find any dupes for this in my collection.

Oh La Lilac- A soft sheer lilac color but looks purple/pink on the lips. I am fair skinned with brown hair and brown eyes and I really liked this color on me. I couldn't find any dupes.

Berry Ready-This is the darkest and most opaque in my opinion. This is a deep berry/plum tone with red undertones. This is a perfect winter lip. If you are looking for something more sheer though I would skip this one. I did find some dupes in my collection which I will show to you.

Coral Ambition- This is one of the lighter colors in the range but I am a sucker for coral for Spring/Summer. The color is a beautiful peach/coral. Because it is so sheer I felt like I wanted a gloss on top of it since my lips are super chapped in the wintertime. I already have a similar color though so this will go back to the store but it's beautiful.

Faint for Fuschia-This is a pale pink color but not the frosty pale pink lip type. It's actually a very wearable pale pink. In the swatch it looks darker but on my lips it comes off a bit more pale. I enjoy it though. No pink dupes for this color either.

So these are the dupes that I found for Berry Ready and why I'm not going to keep it. I think Illamasqua Magnetism is probably the closest color. Now granted the formulations are very different I still feel like the color payoff is similar enough not to warrant me having this color.
Next up for my dupes is a dupe for Coral Ambition. I found that Dior Addict Extreme lipstick in Saint Tropez is very similar The Dior one is $30 so if you don't have the Dior and want a similar color I would say give Coral Ambition a try.
You can see when the caps come off how truly sleek the Maybelline ones are. I really prefer that. Also I find that with the Revlon ones the color seems to always get all over the rim. I don't find that this happens with the Maybelline and Loreal ones.
I found mine at CVS for about $8.99 but I'm sure you can find them cheaper many other places. Overall I really do like this formulation and think once again that Maybelline has created a great product. My favorites are A Plum Prospect and Oh La Lilac. I plan to only keep the unique colors to my collection but really enjoy them all. If you like the lip butters or the Color Riche from Loreal I say give them a try. You are bound to find one color that you will enjoy. I would love to hear your thoughts on these if you have tried them out.

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal- I really like oatmeal and I also like convenience foods. The problem I have with this Oatmeal is the carb content. I have recently been trying to watch what I eat and one thing I have to really watch out for is carbs. It looked delicious though.

NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine in Nude York City- I really like NYC makeup products and this looks like a beautiful nude gloss. I'm looking forward to trying out this color more. I have heard great things about them and for the price its worth giving it a try.

Kiss Nail Dress in KDS05- I got an also cheeta print in these nail stickers that have some dimension to them. I have tried using this type of nail sticker with no luck in the past but look forward to trying these out. If you are into fun nails then I think you would love these.

EBOOST- I got mine in Pink Lemonade. These have green tea in them which is supposed to be very good for you. I am highly caffeine sensitive though. If they made a caffeine free version of this I would love to add it to my water. We all can always use some extra vitamins. These are great for travel and to help avoid getting sick.

Goody Quikstyle Paddle Brush- I was most excited to see this brush. There are mini microfiber towels in the brush to help your hair dry faster. I tried this recently when blow drying my hair and I really think it helped with frizz and helped to dry my hair much faster. It's fairly lightweight the brush and I'm excited to use it more in the future.

Sole Society- They gave us $25 off a sole society purchase. I may check this out but I have a very hard time with shoes always being uncomfortable for me that I prefer to buy my shoes from places like Nordstrom where I know I can return if they don't work out. The shoes on Sole Society though look super cute and trendy.

So that was it for my box. I did not receive the face mask but overall really enjoyed everything that I got in my box and as always appreciate that Influenster gave me the opportunity to try these products out. A lot of these I would have never purchased myself so they are always fun to try and the brush I would repurchase and highly recommend. I think its such a cool concept. If you got the Holiday VoxBox what did you think of it?
I started doing Project X Pan in October and I am still trying to use up some of the products in January. I used up probably more than half of the below products but still have quite a few to go. While I didn't do a no buy on this project pan I still enjoy focusing on certain products as I think it really helps me use things up. This post will focus on what I have used up since my last post in October.

2.Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light/Medium- I am using this everyday now and I have less than 1/2 left. It's hard to tell what is left but its almost done. I really am enjoying it.

3. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer- I depotted this because it started to be hard to get out of the packaging. I really like this primer but am ready to be done. I probably won't finish this until February since I do not use it with my Dream Fresh.

I'll be glad to finish this and get something new.

I think it will be done by the end of this month.

6.Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter- I depotted this to try and use up all of it. With highlighter a little bit goes a long way and this mini size last me probably 6 months which is crazy. I think this is the new birthday gift at Sephora which is great. It's a great highlighter.

7.Laguna Bronzer-This mini bronzer is also lasting forever. I think by the end of this month this will be done though. I have some other mini bronzers and some backup bronzers but do want to try out a new one maybe in 2013. This is a great one though.

1.Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in Birthday Suit- I love this color and will be sad to see it go but to finish a cream shadow is a huge accomplishment. I try and use this most days of the week but it will probably still take me 2 more months to finish this up. I think Benefit makes one of my favorite cream shadow formulas and they don't seem to dry out.
2. Bourjous Healthy Mix in 53- This will take a while and will probably be finished last. I'll be so happy when I finish this though because I do want to buy a new foundation but won't let myself buy one until I finish this one up.
3. Korres Lipgloss in Fuchsia (54)- The wand on this broke and I feel like its impossible to get the product out but I will still try to use up more of this. Lip glosses just take forever for me to finish. I go through a lipstick much faster for some reason.
4. LipFusion LipInfatuation in Angelic- I forgot to use this so I plan to throw it back in my bag to try and use everyday at work. We shall see how it goes but this mini doesn't seem to want to say goodbye. I don't love the color which makes it a bit harder to finish too.
5.Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencils in Stash-This pencil is so tiny that I think I it gets lost in the shuffle and also its green (a pretty green) so it's harder to use up because I don't like wearing green eyeliner on most days of the week but I will try to use this 1-2 days a week. I would really like to use this up because I hate mini pencils.

So that is my January update. I hope you all enjoyed seeing what I have still left to use up from my original post in January. Once I finish up all of these products I plan to do another Project X Pan and try to focus on 25 new makeup items that I would like to use up in 2013. If you are doing a project pan or project use it up I would love to hear how you are doing. I promise to update you soon with my progress.

I'm excited to share with you all my top 12 beauty products of 2012. I debated about doing a longer post breaking maybe more of my favorites into categories. If you would like a lengthier post with more favorites please let me know and I can certainly do that. But for now these are the top 12 things that I loved this past year. Most of these products I use on a daily basis so that's how I know that something is truly a favorite. Most of these products can be found either at your local drugstore, Ulta, or Sephora.

Top 12 of 2012

1. Shiesedo Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector SPF 42 PA+++- I included this in my November favorites post and I still love this product. If you have oily skin or if you don't this is an amazing sunscreen. I plan to use this in both the winter and the summer but just mix up what moisturizers I use. This is not oily and all and doesn't make my face shiny. Great to use before putting on makeup and great size for travel.

2. Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Blush Brush- I picked up the Real Techniques brushes in 2012 and this is my favorite of the bunch. I use this everyday for my bronzer. It works amazing to give my skin a nice dose of color and cleans super well. The price of the brush is very reasonable and is very lightweight.

3. Benefit Eye Bright- I have been using this prior to 2012 but I love this product. I use this everyday on my browbone and also in the inner corner of my eyes. This brightens everything up and makes me look awake. It is easy to sharpen too and just an overall great product.

4. Giorgio Armani Master Corrector in #1- This is a holy grail for me. I use this everyday and although it is expensive it is 100% worth every single penny. The product lasts forever. I can see this lasting a year at least for me. I will 100% be purchasing this again when I use it up which probably won't be for a while. A little bit goes a long way.

5. NYC Smooth Skin Sunny Bronzer- This is an amazing bronzer for fair skinned girls and doesn't look orange on my face. The price is super cheap so you can't beat it and I like to travel with it since I don't mind if it breaks since it is cheap.

6. Beauty Blender- Another holy grail product for me. This is also a bit pricier but if you take good care of it you can easily get 6 months out of it. I prefer to toss mine after 3 months although I do wash it frequently. This gives an airbrush finish to my skin. I was never a foundation brush kind of girl. I prefer a dewy look so this is what I use for all foundations and tinted moisturizers.

7. Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick in Amethyst- This is a product that I bought, returned, and then bought again and boy am I glad that I bought it again. It doesn't look like much in the stick but on the eye is gives a beautiful purple shimmer. Laura Mercier really knows how to give you a classy glam look without looking too glittery or too much. I also love the convenience of the stick.

8. Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss- This was a product that came out in 2012 and I fell in love with it. I have the mauve one and the raspberry reflections and I love both equally. The formula feels very high end. I feel like it plumps my lips, is super glossy and shiny, and just looks beautiful. Probably one of the best drugstore lip glosses in my opinion.

9. Revlon Colorstay Base & Top Coat- I think I picked these up after hearing Amarixe talk about them. I'm very happy with both and don't have much of an interest in trying out any other products. They are very cheap and I truly think they have my nail polish last longer. I do wish the top coat was a bit shinier but other than that I love these. My top coat got a little red from a polish so I'll be picking up a new one soon.

10. Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler- I have probably tried all eyelash curlers on the market. I tried MAC, Chanel, Tarte, Shiesedo, Shu Uemura and probably more. I still keep going to back to this one. I like this one the most because it opens up more than the others so I can really get into all of my lashes and also I think it holds a curl the best. I wish this was at more stores but I know that Nordstroms does sell it now which is good.

11. Lancome Cils Booster XL- I use this product everyday before putting on any mascara. It's a primer for my lashes and just helps any mascara work better in my opinion. This is a little pricey but I can't stop buying it I just love it that much. I find after a few months I do need to toss it but I haven't found a lash primer as good as Lancomes.

12. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in Brightener- The last product I want to talk about is one that everyone has talked about this year. I use this product to brighten my under eye area as a last step in my concealer routine. I think that you get a great value for what you pay and this product will last forever. This is very lightweight so it won't crease under your eyes.

So Maybelline made it on to the list twice which I think really says something about the products that Maybelline came out with this year. You can find great products that are high end but there are also a lot of great drugstore products. 2012 was year of trying out a ton of new things for me but also a focus on using things up. I hope to really make smarter makeup purchases in 2013 and to return things that I don't really enjoy. That's one of my personal beauty new years resolutions. I will also be doing a top 12 nail polishes of 2012 and also 13 products that I am dying to try in 2013. I hope you all are having a fun weekend and would love to know what your favorites were in 2012.
My empties for the month of December are a lot less than I usually have and probably will be moving forward since I have been focusing more on finishing up full sized products since I don't have as many samples to go through. I will highlight for you in the post the products that I would repurchase.Since I didn't have a ton of empties this month I did not break it into categories. I hope everyone is having a great start to 2013!

December Empties

I burned through a few of the Bath and Body Works candles. I loved Vanilla Snowflake, Cinnamon Sugared Donut, and Fresh Bamboo. The body scrubs are also amazing and I loved the pumpkin one for fall. Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume is a great scent and one that I would repurchase and I get a ton of compliments on it. The Crest White strips were good and I would use them again in another 6 months. They didn't make any drastic changes to my teeth but they helped a bit. The Shiesedo facial cottons are holy grail, the Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover is good but I think I might go back to the Clinique one, and I really enjoyed Rimmel's Airy Fairy lipstick and would buy it again. The Karuna sheet masks are great and I picked them up at TJ Maxx for a great price. Finally the Sparitual hand serum I really enoyed for almost a year. I am not sure if it did anything for my hands but I enjoyed putting it on each night. We put serum on our faces so why not our hands too?

I didn't love the Body Shop hand lotion. I think they make terrible hand lotions that are way too watery and do not recommend them at all. I also didn't really enjoy the scents. The Philosophy Gingerbread scrub was just ok for me but the scent is great. I personally prefer the Bath & Body Works ones.

So that's it for my December empties. I am hard a work trying to use up more things for January but it's going slow so far. I find that I use up a ton of things at once so I think one month soon I'll probably have a lot of stuff. I'm putting on my lotions, hand creams, cuticle butters, and all that good stuff to keep my skin moisturized during the cold NYC winter. If you collect your empties, did you find you used up less in December? What are some of your favorite lotions or creams for the winter?

For the month of January I have picked up a limited edition item which is already sold out on the MAC website. I am giving away the limited edition MAC mineralize skinfinish in Stereo Rose. This is a cult favorite from MAC and a color that I think would work well on a lot of skintones. The value is $29 and you get 10 grams of product.
The Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow palette was released very recently and has been advertised as an all matte palette. The palette is $27 and you get six full sized eyeshadows. This doesn't come with any primers or brushes like the other Naked palettes. I don't mind this though because it helps make the palette cost less money. Some of the colors are exclusive to this palette and some you can find elsewhere. For the month of December, I currently running a giveway of this palette.

Many Urban Decay fans have really been looking for an all matte palette as an alternative to the Naked and Naked 2 palettes. These colors are very basic so you might be able to find some similar colors elsewhere but because the quality of Urban Decay is so great and the packaging on this super portable I knew that I had to pick this up. The packaging has a bit of a rubbery texture (not as rubbery as Nars) but because it's not black it shouldn't get too dirty.

The mirror in this palette is huge which makes it great to keep in your makeup bag or for travel. I like this mirror better than the one in the original Naked palette and the Naked 2. This also has a snap closure unlike the previous palettes. Sometimes I find it hard to open but I do think its very secure. The packaging is very minimal and sleek. If you hated traveling with the naked palettes you will love this.
The colors in the palette are all matte, except the first color Venus which is called a demi-matte. All of the colors are super creamy and not chalky. They are the typical great quality Urban Decay shadows. Here is a description of each of the colors:

Venus is a soft, off-white demi matte. Venus is unique to this palette. This color comes off a bit frosty to me. I prefer matte highlights under my browbone so I wish they would have put a matter highlight color in but this might be nice in your inner corner to brighten up your eyes.

Foxy is a very light yellow/beige matte. This color is also found in the Naked 2 palette.

W.O.S. is a very light pinky nude matte. Walk of Shame is exclusive to the build your own palette. This color is very similar to my skintone. I really enjoy this as an all over lid color to just even out my lids.

Naked 2 is a rosy taupe matte. Naked 2 is unique to this palette. This is the type of color that I typically reach for as a crease color for everyday.

Faint is a warm dusty brown matte. Faint is unique to this palette. This color would work great for a deeper crease color or in the outer corner for a more natural look. I found that this color seemed to be similar to MAC's Charcoal Brown. I might try this in my eyebrows to see how it looks. If it works that would be amazing for travel.

Crave is a deep dark brown/matte black. Crave is unique to this palette. I like that this is a black/brown since I think it gives a softer look for everyday. I think you could use this for a smokey eye and also as an eyeliner. Great color with great pigmentation.

So for those of you who are wondering if you need this palette, I think that this would be an optional palette. For me I had to have it but if you have Naked and Naked 2 then you may not need this palette. For $27 I felt that it was worth it for six full sized eyeshadows. If you are truly a neutral eyeshadow lover then yes you need this palette in your life. The quality of these shadows is superb and well worth the money. Also depending on your skintone this palette may not work as well for you. I am pretty fair and all of the colors work great but if you are of darker skin tone then I think a few colors might not show up on you. Something just to think about. What do you all think of this palette? A must have or skip it? Do you prefer matte or shimmer colors?
Being that is is the holiday season I wanted to share with you some of my favorite red nail polishes to wear during this time of year. I picked my to 5 that I currently own. I'm excited to wear this especially during Christmas. I promise to do nail of the day posts as soon as I wear all of these colors.

Favorite Holiday Red Nail Polishes

1. Essie After Sex- This is a beautiful red with shimmer in it but no glitter. The shimmer is very subtle though and the formula is great on this. There are definitely some berry undertones to it but it comes off red on the nails. It's a classy red with an edge to wear on the nails. Positively Polished has some great pictures of it.

2. China Glaze Ruby Pumps- This is my all time favorite holiday polish. This polish is super unique. I've never seen a dupe for it. It is a sparkly red with glitter inside of the polish. This is not a glitter polish though but somehow China Glaze is able to make it look as though there is glitter in the polish. You need this color, it looks beyond amazing in the sunlight! Jen at From Head to Toe just did a great post on this color.

3. Butter London Knees Up- This is a new polish to my collection. I had it on my wishlist forever. This dries with a more sateen finish but is very pretty on the nails. It is a beautiful metallic jewel toned color on the nails. Let Them Have Polish has some great photos of this color.

4. NYC Color Penn Station- This is probably the least unique color and my least favorite of the bunch but yet still a classic red and since it's drugstore it's cheap. This is a true creme color on the nails.

5. Julep Demi- This is more of a burgundy red color on the nails. This is also a creme color that looks very classy on the nails. Some refer to this color as dark crimson. It looks deeper in the bottle than on the nails. BluMochi has some great photos of this color.

So those are some of my favorite reds to wear during this time of the year. What red nail polishes do you love? If you don't love reds what are your favorite polishes for the holidays?
December's Birchbox theme obviously revolves around the holidays. They changed the typical brown box and it made it very festive for the holidays which I thought was a nice touch. The product in this box are supposed to help us look and feel our best. They also let us know that they have online videos on gift wrapping and ways to upcycle old Birchboxes. So here is what I got in my December box.

How cute is the box that Birchbox sent out this month? I really like the color combination of hot pink and gold that they picked. It's festive yet works for people who celebrate all different holidays.

The first thing that I got was my lifestyle extra from Emily's Chocolates. It was a dark chocolate peppermint holiday fortune cookie. A box of 6 retails for $5.49-$5.99. Birchbox says, "Filled with festive messages, these treats have surpassed ginger snaps as our favorite holiday goodie." This was amazing and would make a great holiday gift. I normally hate getting food but I thought these were very cute and tasted great so I was happy to receive this as my "extra".

The next product was the Nick Chavez Beverly Hills Advanced Volume Shampoo. A full size retails for $22. Birchbox says, "This buzz-worthy shampoo uses an arsenal of hair savers-including hyaluronic acid and keratin-to build body and add shine." The ingredients in this intrigue me so I'm excited to try this out. This does contain sulfates but seems to be ok for color treated hair.

Birchbox included a gift tag to use on our most creatively wrapped present. Then you could take a picture with hashtag #bboxholiday.

Next in my box was the Frownies Eye Gels. A full size is $29.95. Birchbox says, "Fight puffy dark circles with these innovative undereye patches, which are soaked with cactus-derived collagen and toning niacin." I'm excited to try these out. I don't have bad undereye cirlces or puffiness but will give this a try. Apparently they are reusable but I'm not sure how that works.

They have also included a $50 gift card to Rent the Runway with a purchase of $125 or more. I don't think I"ll be using this but it's nice that they included it.

The last two things that I got were a mini Hot Mama blush from the Balm and a hand and cuticle salve from J.R. Watkins. A full sized blush is $20 and the salve is $8.99. Birchbox says, "How cute is this peachy blush? The universally flattering pigment is laced with faint golden shimmer to add warmth to your complexion." "Slather on this nourishing balm pre-manicure. It's full of natural moisturizers to keep your hands and cuticles super soft." I already have a full size of this blush so I will be giving it to a friend. I like it but prefer to wear it during the summertime. The hand and cuticle salve will be great for the winter. I'm happy to receive this in my box.

So that is my December Birchbox. Overall I am happy with this box and excited to try out a few of the things. I still feel strongly that this is one of the best beauty box programs out there for the price and the only one that I currently receive, though I did receive others in the past. If you have any questions about more of my thoughts feel free to reach out to me. If you get Birchbox let me know what you thought of your box.
I want to apologize to you all for taking the past week off from blogging and also for putting up my November favorites so late. I do have some great favorites from November though so I still think that they are worth sharing. Also I purchased a lightbox and was playing around it with it but I don't think I'll be keeping it since I didn't think that the came out that amazing. I cannot wait for when I get more daylight to take outdoor pictures.

Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel Hand Cream- This is an amazing smelling hand cream. It feels very moisturizing on my hands but it concerns me that it contains mineral oil. Still I enjoy using this during the holiday season. This is one of my favorite holiday scents. Great hand cream if you don't mind mineral oil.

Mac Eye Shadow in Grain- I recently went on a mac eye shadow purchase craze where I bought a ton of shadows and this was one from my list. It's a great all over lid color for when you want a natural look but just a little something different. I'm loving it so far. It's one of those colors that looks boring in the pan but amazing on the lid.

Redken All Soft Shampoo & Conditioner- I recently got into using the same shampoo and conditioner and while I normally prefer sulfate free ones I decided to give this a try. I loved it this past month. It really makes my hair super soft and I think its a great set and not crazy expensive.

H20 Spa Hand and Cuticle Scrub- I love hand scrubs and use them every night before putting on lotion. It makes sense that if we scrub our body why not our hands. I picked this up at TJ Maxx and love it for the price. It makes my hands feel very soft. Perfect for winter.

Shiesedo Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector SPF 42 A+++- This stuff has become holy grail in such a short time. I used to always use moisturizer with SPF but I think that this stuff is just so much better. I love it and it doesn't make my face oily nor does it feel like sunscreen. Highly recommend trying this out. I also found it recently at TJ Maxx for like half the price.

Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Flush- I got this as a deluxe sample with one of my recent Tarte orders. Even though this is a bit sticky I still love the color. It gives my cheeks the perfect "flush". I wear this on my more natural days and it looks beautiful.

Laura Mercier Camouflage Powder brush- I am obsessed with this brush and only use it from cream eye shadow which is weird because I guess its meant for powder. It's perfect for cream shadow. Works amazing with my benefit crease-less cream shadows.

LipFusion Infatuation in Pucker Up-This might be one of my most favorite lip glosses. You do need to apply a thin coat so that it doesn't go on your teeth but its super glossy and just a beautiful Fall/Winter rosey/plum color. I think it really does plump my lips a bit. Wish that they sold these more places.

Laura Gellar Blush-N-Brighten in Golden Apricot- I got a sample of this blush at a Laura Gellar event that I attended. I wasn't overly excited when I got the color but one day last month I decided to pick it up and its amazing. It is so easy to apply and really gives my skin a ton of life. Golden Apricot is the perfect way to describe this.

Maybelline Bit of Berry (175) Lipstick- I kept hearing everyone on YouTube talk about this color so I had to give it a try. I really like it a lot. It's super easy to wear and great for an everyday berry lip color. I really like the Maybelline formula too. Great lipstick.

So that's it for my November favorites. This month I have been doing drugstore december which basically means I have been using all drugstore makeup products so I will probably have a few more drugstore favorites for December. Hope everyone is having a great start to your week. Would love to hear what you loved in November?
Brick is the perfect way to describe this color as it has red and orange undertones to it. The color is beautiful on the nails and is what I wore on Thanksgiving. The color is very unique to my collection and don't have any dupes for it. I also think that this could work well on a lot of skin tones.

I was able to use two coats to make it opaque. The polish applies extremely easily with minimal clean up.The one small drawback is that you can see some slight blush strokes when painted on the nails. I like the color so much though that this really doesn't bother me much. The color lasted a while on my nails without chipping. Overall this is an amazing formula and while it is an expensive polish at around $16 a bottle, it is worth the price if you can afford it since it is such a unique color. What nail polishes are you loving now?

For my November empties it seems like I went through a ton of candles and also a lot of makeup which is extremely exciting to me because we all know how hard it is to get through makeup. I think a lot of times we finish a products at the same time for some reason. I don't know if any of you notice that happens to you too. I haven't been using as many samples so I will probably have less empties each month but I still finished quite a bit.

I tend to use up at least one small hand cream a month. This one was from Caswell & Massey and I hated the smell so much. I do not recommend it. The shampoo from Giovanni was ok. I didn't love but didn't hate it either. I do not plan to repurchase it though because I have found other holy grail shampoo/conditioners that I will share in a separate post.

I finished up a few perfume samples none of which really stood out. I am going back now to full sized bottles. I currently have at least six bottles to go through. I really need to focus on those. I like to toss my beatuy blender out every three months. I used up an extra large Urban Decay setting spray. This is holy grail for me and I already have backups. I finished the Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation. I enjoyed using it and would consider repurchasing. I finished the Milani HD concealer but would not repurchase it because I don't think it was the right color match for me. I finished the Mally mascara which I enjoyed quite a bit but wouldn't repurchase simply for price and that I prefer to be able to just pick up a mascara from the drugstore. I finished the Stila Mulberry lipglaze. This is a super pretty color but I don't love the formula of these. I finished a Maybelline instant age rewind which I have already repurchased. This is in the color brightener. I finished an Urban Decay primer potion. I have a backup but would love to try the Nars one in the future.

I finished the Mint Juleps lip scrub which I already repurchased. I finished my clarisonic brush head and I have repurchased the delicate ones instead. I went through a package of Shiesedo cotton pads which is holy grail for me. The Caudalie water is amazing along with the beauty elixir which I always have on hand. I really enjoyed the Karuna sheet masks this month which I picked up at TJ Max. The Ole Henriksen 3 step peel I now use once a month and love it. I have repurchased the Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength peel pads. I hated the Loreal eyelash serum. I thought it did nothing and it is not worth the money in my opinion.

I finished 4 bath and body works candles and 5 mini candles. I don't like Creamy Pumpkin but do love the other two. I finished u 3 pocketbacs which I use everyday before I wash my face and keep one in my bag always. I finished some wallflowers and a handsoap. I have not been impressed with the wallflowers. The scent disappears so fast for me. If you all use a brand you like more please let me know.

That's it for my November empties. I am trying really hard to stick with the same skincare, haircare products instead of bouncing around with samples. I think that this has been really helping my skin in particular. I hope you all are excited for the holidays and are having a great start to December thus far.

I have a great giveaway for December. Urban Decay recently came out with a new palette called the Naked Basics palette. It literally just came out today November 29th and I ordered one for you all to have a chance and win. Of course I picked one up for myself too. This is the palette of the moment and one that everyone is talking about. The value is $27 and I believe it is only available right now at urbandecay.com.

PRIZE
So in the palette you get 6 matte neutral colors. This is what Urban Decay has to say about the palette,

"Naked Basics is more than just the long-awaited, multipurpose MATTE companion to Naked. It’s the palette EVERY woman needs in her beauty arsenal. With six stripped-down, Nakedly neutral shadows, it has everything you need for the perfect neutral matte eye—including four totally new and exclusive shades.

Use these shadows to contour, line and highlight to create the right amount of definition for any occasion. Or for the days when you’re craving more color, pair them with your fiercest, boldest shadows. Richer than other mattes, the color goes on with a smooth, luxe finish (never chalky or powdery). There’s even one demi-matte shade, Venus, which has the tiniest touch of satin—perfect for highlighting and adding dimension.
While this palette is small, we loaded it with full-size shadow pans, just like our other Naked palettes. Every shade features our Pigment Infusion System™, a vehicle for color that holds tightly to pigment and gives the formula its glide. The proprietary blend of ingredients allows color to weave itself through the Eyeshadow formula. What does all that mean? Insane color payout. Color that stays on your lids. Sparkle that doesn’t fall. And velvety, suede-like smoothness and blendability.
(Hello…how gorgeous will THAT look coming out of your bag?!) Best of all, the slim design is perfect for travel—so you’ll never have to be without these must-have shades.
Nikki works at Sephora so she really knows her makeup. She does amazing tutorials and is comes across super down to earth in her videos. I love watching all of the knew things that she finds and she finds great stuff since Sephora is always getting in new goodies. Her hauls are really amazing and I'm always wishing I worked at Sephora too. Here is her most recent video:
I am a new subscriber to Jumana's channel but I have been loving watching all of her videos. She is a makeup artist and also a mom to I think 7 kids. I don't really know how she does it but I give her kudos for sure. She has a huge makeup collection and does very honest reviews that I find extremely helpful when trying which makeup products I want to purchase. Here is her most recent video:
Joanna's channel is also fairly new to me but I quickly fell in love with her videos. She doesn't make them extremely often but when she does they are great and 100% worth watching. She has a great sense of style and has great taste in makeup, especially high end stuff. She is also big into skincare which I love since I like higher end skincare so I like to see what works for people. Here is her most recent video:

Today's NOTD is from Revlon and is called Copper Penny. This is a great shade to wear around Thanksgiving time and in the Fall. I really think that Revlon makes great polishes and this is no exception. The color is a copper metallic shade with no glitter. These are priced very well for drugstore polishes and I don't have any dupes for this color in my collection.

This color could be just one coat it is that opaque but I prefer to always do two coats on my nails. The polish lasts a while on my nails without chipping. Some might really enjoy this color in the summertime with a tan because it does have a bronze effect but I prefer it in the Fall. I find this color super easy to polish on my nails and don't have much clean up to do around the nails as I have with some other polishes I own.
Overall this is an amazing color and a must have for your nail polish collection. Metallics are very trendy right now and since it is super affordable you can justify just one more polish, right? If you celebrate Thanksgiving I would love to know what nail polish you wore on Thanksgiving?

After falling in love with the Nars Sheer Glow I knew that I wanted to try out the Nars Tinted Moisturizer as soon as it came out. I've owned this for quite a while now so I should be able to give you a pretty good review of the product. I tend to like to wear tinted moisturizer on the weekend and foundation for work during the week. Nars Pure Radiant retails for $42 for 1.9 oz.

My skin is pretty normal and I have a fair complexion. I get slightly dehydrated in the winter and slightly oily in the summertime but overall its normal. I don't typically get many breakouts but do have a lot of freckles on my cheeks and my face can get red at times.

This tinted moisturizer is different then most in that it does have ingredients that have skincare properties. This makes it a little bit more like a BB cream. It is infused with naturally derived ingredients that have been proven to help reduce the appearance of discoloration and dark spots caused by hyperpigmentation for a clearer and brighter complexion in just four weeks. I don't use this daily so I can't speak to if this is true or not. In addition, natural polysaccharides from Moorea island in French Polynesia hydrate, condition, and help encourage natural cell renewal. Mineral-rich seawater uniquely revitalizes and adds key minerals back into the skin.
The packaging is great for travel because it is small and lightweight and I like that the spout is small so that you don't have to worry about too much product coming out. The value is great since you are getting 1.9 oz for $42. A lot of foundations are $42 and you only get 1 oz. I also love that this is an SPF 30/PA +++ with active ingredients of Octinoxate and Titanium Dioxide. Sunscreen is super important and I'm glad that they put 30 in here.

There are nine colors in the range which are Finland, Alaska, St. Moritz, Annapurna, Cuba, Malaga, Seychelles, Martinique, and Polynesia. I wear the shade Finland which is their lightest shade. If you are super pale I think that this might be too dark for you. Nars always runs more yellow toned which I prefer and this helps to neutralize the redness in my face. It is lightweight on the face yet gives me pretty light to medium coverage and the formula is buildable but does not clog my pores or make me break out. It gives my skin a dewy glow (not greasy) and I think works best for the summer since it is oil-free. The wear on this is also great and it pretty much lasts all day on my skin.

I have tried the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in the past and prefer this more, mainly for the coverage that I get from this product. I don't recall Laura Mercier giving me as much coverage, although it is also a decent product.
This is an amazing product that is worth the price. If your skin is super oily or super dry you might want to pass on this but I think most people would really enjoy this product. I would 100% repurchase this product when I run out of it. Nars makes amazing makeup and this is no exception. If you have this I would love to hear your thoughts. What are some of your favorite tinted moisturizers?

I was recently searching the Sephora website and came across this new palette from Urban Decay. It is called the 30-Shade Eyeshadow Vault. It retails for $270 but you get 30 eyeshadows. If you are an Urban Decay junkie this is an amazing deal but if you already have a lot of their palettes you may want to pass on this one. It's not for everyone because it is pricey but its something worth looking more into. This is available I believe only at Sephora.com.

Sephora says, "This treasure chest of 30 shadows is filled with enough covetable brights; chic neutrals; and sexy shimmer, sparkle, and matte shades to satiate even the highest-maintenance shadow junkie. Feast your eyes on rows of rich, decadent color and ultrasmooth pigments: All of Urban Decay’s newly launched shadows contain their proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ for superior blendability, incredible color coverage, and a velvety feel. The collection comes in a luxe presentation box—deep purple with silver foil details, it has six innovative compacts that allow you to pop out the shades. This means you can choose the shades you want to take with you, switching them around as you please."

I will not be picking this up because I think I already have quite a few of these colors but for some of you this may be of interest so I did want to share it with my readers because I personally have not heard a lot of talk about this. I am a huge fan of Urban Decay eyeshadows so you will get amazing shadows with this box. Also it's a great value because normally a shadow costs $18 so 30 would normally cost you $540. Instead you get this for $270 which makes each shadow about $9 each. What do you all think of this? Do you think it's worth the money?
