Mac Lipstick Collection Swatches, Photos, and Review

My Mac lipstick is currently small but ever growing. With the Back to Mac program it's hard not to want to buy their lipsticks. They aren't as crazy priced as many Sephora lipsticks and they have such a great color selection. I currently have 4 lipsticks that I am going to share with you all today.

Mac Lipsticks in Syrup, Sweetie, Hue, and Costa Chic
Left to Right: Syrup, Sweetie, Hue, and Costa Chic

Mac lipsticks retail for $15 USD for 3 grams. They come in several different finishes such as amplified  amplified creme, cremesheen, frost, glaze, lustre, matte, and satin. The lipsticks I am going to show you today are frost, glaze, and lustre finishes. I really like the packaging of the lipsticks as well. They are very sleek and classic looking which I prefer.

Mac Syrup is my most recent purchase. It is a lustre finish and lustres tend to be more sheer with some sheen to them. It is a very buildable color that looks very natural on the lips but still gives your lips great color. To me its a pink/plum color which is perfect for Fall/Winter. It's not overly glossy on the lips but gives me a nice sheen. None of the MAC lipsticks that I am going to show you today last a very long time. Maybe Costa Chic lasts the longest. This is a color that people have been talking about a lot recently so I decided to pick it up and so glad that I did.

Costa Chic is a harder lipstick to find. For some reason only MAC stores carry this color. You can't find it at a MAC stand in a department store. I love this color for Spring/Summer. It's bright but super wearable. It's a frost finish but doesn't come off as a frost at all as you can see from the swatch. It's a beautiful shade of coral. I think that this would look great on a lot of skintones.

Sweetie was the first MAC lipstick that I ever purchased. It's just a pretty pink lipstick. It does come off the slightest bit frosty and I mean really slight but I still really like the lipstick. It's an easy to wear color that you don't really need a mirror for. It pretty much goes with everything. It almost has a slight purple undertone but definitely is a pink lipstick. Sweetie is a lustre finish.

Hue is a glaze finish and is very sheer. I wear this when I want a glossy nude lip and don't want to have that dead look. I hate nude lips that make you look dead but this one does not. I think hue works because it has pink undertones in it. The color comes off semi-sheer and I think it would look really pretty with a smokey eye.

Mac Sweetie LipstickMac Hue Lipstick

MAC lipsticks just feel great on my lips and they have a great vanilla scent. The ones that I have feel very hydrating and do not dry my lips out at all. They also feel very light on the lips which I enjoy. I think Hue and Sweetie could be worn all year round but I prefer Syrup for Fall/Winter and Costa Chic for Spring/Summer. My only complaint is that its hard to store them so that you can see the color so if you have a lot of these it makes it harder to find one lipstick when the color is on the bottom and they all look the same. I've started storing them in the boxes to see the color easier. I've started doing the same thing with my Nars products as well. What are some of your favorite MAC lipsticks? Would love to add more to the collection.

xx

  1. You have great picks for having a little collection. :) I'm trying to stray away from MAC lipsticks...I think I have to venture out to other brands. LOL.

I love the texture and smell of the MAC lipsticks...they are great right? You'll have a huge collection soon. :D

    1. Hue is a great nude. I don't like a lot of MAC nudes but this one works somehow.
