Laura Mercier Artist's Palette For Eyes: Swatches, Photos & Review

Laura Mercier recently launched at Sephora the exclusive and limited edition Artist's Palette for Eyes. The palette retails for $48 USD but is an $88 value. The palette is a dozen eye shadow colors, hand-selected by Laura Mercier, in shimmer and matte finishes. The top row features a range of dark to light shimmer shades in Chocolate, African Violet, Sable, Guava, Cameo, and Sunlit. The bottom row includes light to dark matte finishes in Vanilla Nuts, Plum Smoke, Cafe au Lait, Coffee Ground, Deep Night, and Rich Coffee. I had originally picked up a single in African Violet but ended up returning it when this palette came out.

This palette is similiar to the Lorac Pro Palette in which you get half matte and half shimmer colors.Read my review of the Lorac Pro Palette here. This palette is the same. You can 4 less shadows in this palette but more shadow per color. Each shadow in this palette comes with .03 oz vs. .02 oz in the Lorac Pro Palette. The Lorac palette sells for $42 and this one is $48. This palette has more plum/purple colors in it than the Lorac palette. I really like purples so this palette is amazing for me.

The palette comes in a magnetic faux snakeskin brown fabric. I think its very different and I like it. The size is good for travel as well. It is thicker than the Naked 2 and Lorac palettes but not as long which is good if you have a smaller makeup bag. 

The top row is the shimmer colors and the bottom is the matte ones. The colors are simply beautiful as you can see from these photos. The color payoff is great as well as the pigmentation. They are not very chalky either but I do recommend tapping off your brush before applying some of the more pigmented matte colors to avoid fallout. In terms of lasting power, I always wear a primer and don't have oily eyelids so I have no problem with my eyeshadows lasting ever. African Violet is by far the most unique color in this palette. It is a purple with gold shimmer. Simply beautiful on the eyes.

All of the colors in this palette are beautiful and very soft yet pigmented. Something about Laura Mercier makeup is very natural. I think you could do such a variety of looks with these colors from day to night. You could do an amazing smokey eye or just a soft daytime eye look. Vanilla Nuts is perfect for your highlight color and I love Rich Coffee because it is a deep brown that almost looks black. Perfect for a soft smokey eye. This is limited edition so I say pick this up while you can. I am in love and Laura Mercier slowly grows and one of my new favorite brands.
