Review Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Highlighter Rose Illumination

It's finally here, the Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Highlighter in Rose Illumination. I first heard about this through Michelle1218 on YouTube. She always has the best product recommendations so I had to try this out. I regret not buying the Laura Mercier Illuminator so just felt that I couldn't pass this up. Well it ended up being sold out at Macys Herald Square and when I checked online it wasn't available. Then I got lucky and it came back in stock so I placed an order with the 25% discount code through ShannnyBannny (another YouTuber) and also used Ebates to get a little more off. If you don't know about Ebates and would like a post on it just let me know.

This product is from the Rose Aurora Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The collection is a mix of bronzes and rose tones with beautiful rose gold packaging. The packaging is really beautiful. This is my first Elizabeth Arden makeup item. I always associated them with an older audience but I think with this collection they certainly are appealing to a younger crowd who loves Rose Gold since its very trendy now. The powder is very creamy and smooth and blends out well. It has a similar consistency to thebalm Marylouminizer.

I compared this to my other highlighters that I have and its not close to any of them. So no dupes for me. Which is great because who needs two of the same highlighters. I think even if you are fair skin (which I am) you can wear this color. It probably would look great on tan skin too. Compared to theBalm mary-lou manizer its more pinky/gold and compared to Benefit Watts Up its more pink while Watts Up is more gold. It's not at all like Benefit High Beam as that is more light pink sheen with no gold. I think that this is a great shade for Spring/Summer, as well as into Fall a bit. I'm really looking forward to using this more.

You can order this from Elizabeth Arden. It retails for $34 USD. Get it quick before it sells out. Have any of you picked this up, what are your thoughts?

  1. Have actually never tried any Elizabeth Arden stuff. Do you have oily skin? Because I always find highlighters only enhance my oily self.

    1. Hey...I have never tried Elizabeth Arden until now either but I'm happy with this product. I do not have oily skin. I have more like normal/combination skin. In the summer it does get a bit more oily. I like the glowy look on my face but if you are not into having a glow you might not like highlighters. You could very subtly apply this in small areas of your face. I think since this is a powder though that it would make you less oily then if you were using something like benefit high beam or a cream product like the Jemma Kid one.

  2. I have this but I find it not so buttery/pigmented? Was that swatch of yours a really hard swatch? When I try to get a harder swatch, it forms that layer on top of the powder when you press too much

    1. I really find this very buttery and pigmented. I think it was just a regular swatch. I don't have to go back a million times for the swatch. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though. I do like hearing other opinions on products.
