This or That? Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads vs. St. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads

This is going to kick off a new series that I am going to call "This or That". I know that there are a lot of drugstore alternatives to high end products. I want to showcase those options for you. Some of you may still prefer the high end and if you can afford it sometimes the high end is worth the money. For those of you who can't afford the high end products though, I plan on showing you some great alternatives that you can find at the drugstore. This post is going to focus on skincare and I will be comparing the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel pads (high-end) vs. the St. Ives Scrub-Free Exfoliating Pads (drugstore).

This or That?

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare - Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel Mini ReviewSt. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads Mini Review

I first purchased the Dr. Dennis Gross pads from Sephora. A 60 count container costs $128 at Sephora. Yes, you heard me right, $128 for this product. You might think I'm crazy spending that much money but I really like this product and think that it helps to exfoliate my skin, makes it more radiant, clear, and even toned. I repurchased it once until I saw the St. Ives one. This is a newer product. I really think St. Ives makes some great drugstore skincare. This product caught my eye because you don't see many like it in the drugstore. I picked it up since what could I lose for $4.99. You also get 60 pads in this product. So $4.99 vs. $128? Well lets just say that I think that the St. Ives product works just as good as the Dr. Dennis Gross. I have no plans to buy the Dr. Dennis Gross product in the future and will only purchase the St. Ives one. That's how much I have fallen in love with it. Plus I can justify using it everyday since it's only $4.99 whereas I would only use the Dr. Dennis Gross one 1-2x's per week since it was so pricey.

I also want to note that I my skin is pretty good. If you don't have great skin, you may find that the more expensive one might work better for you. Luckily Sephora has a great return policy so if you do decide to try out the pricey one, you could always return it if you end up not liking it. If you are decent skin I think that the St. Ives would work just fine for you.

Have any of you tried either of these products? What are you thoughts?

  1. Wow- I love hearing about more affordable dupes of popular, expensive products. I have sensitive skin and can't use manual, scrubby exfoliants, so products like there are a must for me. Thanks for sharing! :)
